About My Art

Close-up of a white crocheted lace cloth on a wooden surface with a wooden bowl in the background.

I have crocheted for most of my life. In 2000, I discovered freeform crochet and knew I had found my happy place.

In simple terms, freeform is crocheting without a pattern. As you can see from some of the pictures, my style is very organic and abstract. I adore lace; therefore, much of my work has lacy components. I am inspired by all aspects of nature and express that through the lens of the design style of the generations that shaped me: mid-century modern and the flower power of the 1970s.

Once I have the focus for a new collection, I use other art mediums, primarily watercolor, and Zentangle style drawing, to explore colors and shapes. I’m also a writer. The poetry of the written word helps me weed out the distractions so that the story can be told.

Creating small, organic shaped motifs in crochet is my favorite things to do. I literally doodle with a hook and thread. Once I have worked through all the different aspects of the designs I just let my hands and heart take over.

Finally, earrings have always been my favorite accessory; therefore, it makes sense to begin with the small, wearable art I love.

Thank you for visiting; I hope you are inspired.
